Round Table Discussions in Detail

Writing to the Romance Market
Are you looking for a romance genre or subgenre that has the most potential for success? Have you ever wondered why certain books immediately connect with an audience while others do not? In this session we will discuss strategies for identifying hot and under served romance markets, look at the best way to use popular romance tropes, and consider the challenges of maintaining a unique voice while capitalizing on popular trends.

Giving Your Book Professional Polish
From editing and proofreading to interior and cover design, we’ll discuss the details that separate the best indie books from the pack, and how to achieve professional results on a tight budget.

Managing a Successful Indie Publishing Business
In this session we will discuss what it takes to create and run your own successful indie publishing company, including legal and financial considerations and strategies for organizing your work flow.

Best Practices for Marketing and Promotion
Marketing is a necessary but sometimes intimidating requirement for an indie author. We’ll discuss creating a sensible marketing plan, including pricing promotions, email and social media marketing, and the most effective promotional sites for the e-book market.

Other Things You Should Know

Bedding and towels are provided. Please plan to bring your own shampoo and toiletries, and be aware that bathrooms are shared.

All bedrooms are on the 2nd floor and are furnished with twin beds. (There is one handicap accessible room on the first floor- contact us for details if needed). You will be the only person assigned to your bedroom unless you are attending with a roommate. Please note, we do not assign roommates, so only choose the double occupancy option if you already have a roommate! You may register together or separately (if separately, please send a quick email to let us know the name of your roommate).

Dress for the weekend is casual, and you’ll want to bring comfortable shoes for walking along the forest paths. Please plan to bring something special to wear for the formal candlelight supper. Many guests enjoy dressing in a costume from their favorite historical era, but modern formal or semi-formal dress is also welcome!
